Vue Lounge

Sunday morning breakfasts should be a ritual. Smooth, rich coffee to help shake the fatigue caused by countless hours of missed sleep from the previous night, lashings of bacon and eggs to counteract that case of Mondayitis that is guaranteed to be arriving the day after and some great company to help the hours fade away. Breakfasts are often overlooked or omitted during the busy early morning hours of the weekdays, so why not spend a little time enjoying the most important meal of the day at least once a week? We at Ennvy have decided to put in the hard yards for you and are going to sample some of Brisbane's finest breakky haunts to ensure you don't waste your precious Sundays looking for the best!

To start with our breakfast reviews, we visited Vue Lounge at New Farm. Sandwiched in the middle of the busy Merthyr Village Hub, Vue Lounge is large and airy space occupied by a neat centre kitchen and numerous inside booths and outside tables, perfect for peeping at the eclectic styles of New Farm locals. Rumour has it that on busy Sundays you may not be seated for close to half an hour but on this particular we were very lucky to get a table immediately after arriving. Scouring the specials boards is a must-do when you arrive, as although the normal menu is good, the specials are unique and will provide you with a more interesting breakfast experience. On this particular day, we had a skinny cappucino ($3.70), a special muddled orange wedges, raspberry and apple juice ($6), the breakfast special of poached eggs on sourdough with fetta, pumpkin, sundried tomatoes and aioli ($17.90) and pan fried chorizo, roasted capsicum, caramelised onion, olives, poached eggs, pomegranate molasses and sourdough ($17.90). The juice was my favourite of the meal, it was refreshing and delicious plus I love the kitsch old-school milk bottle it was served in. The food was nothing spectacular, neither bad nor mind-blowing. We may return to try other dishes we have heard are better. With a good location, ample parking, unique breakfast options and delicious juices, it is worth a try if you are in the area.
