Don't judge a book by its bad reviews! This should be every food blogger's mantra for the 2013. Why am I ranting on about mantras, you ask? Well, Pony Dining was a book which had received many unsavory reviews on Urbanspoon but after deciding to go and try it, to make my own decision, I found that I loved it.
Pony Dining, the new twin of its brother establishment in Sydney, is an upmarket tapas and grill style restaurant. The fit out of the entire restaurant is beautiful without being pretentious and if you are lucky, you can grab yourself a first class view of the Story Bridge from the balcony that wraps around the bar. On this particular night we were sat at bar like counter with two other couples facing the open kitchen. Usually, I hate eating at counters, but Pony took this experience to the whole new level. With warm lights, which make for great photos, and entertainment from the very busy kitchen, make the counter experience one which should be tried!
All the dishes were above all expectations. From the juicy, grilled chorizo with its addictive jam to the perfectly baked puff pastry on the tart to the delicious hand made petit fours. All the dishes were fresh with distinct flavours which complemented the dishes well. The petit fours were so yummy that I wish there had been more! Coupled with the great service, our cups were never empty, recommendations from staff and delicious food, I think that this Pony will be sprinting across the finish line as a winner!
