CHOWHOUSE, FORTITUDE VALLEY

Modern Asian fare at its best at Chowhouse, Fortitude Valley.
Being skeptical of Asian food when served up away from the traditional Asian neighbourhoods has lead us to stay clear of Chowhouse despite its good reviews. Coupled with the fact that breakfast was the chosen meal for our particular visit, this only heightened my skepticism. Luckily Chowhouse not only surprised us, but it surpassed all expectations others have had.

Chowhouse is a modern Asian fusion restaurant located in the James Street Precinct, aka foodie heaven. With a prime position next to the Palace cinemas, Chowhouse is easy to find. Breakfasts are big business in this locale and therefore an Asian breakfast option was sure to please all palates. Enter Chowhouse, an answer to all the questions of, "why not eat Asian food for breakfast?" Their Asian inspired chef specialties such as the corn, potato and coriander fritter served on a bed of pumpkin and haloumi laced with a pumpkin and lime chutney (featured below) and the surprisingly delicious and authentic Nasi Goreng (featured below), had us jumping for joy at finding one of our newly favourited local breakfast haunts. So next time you want a new twist on boring breakfasts, head over to Chowhouse to see why Asians do breakfast best!
